For my ‘Embrace’ album, I made a track called ‘Old Skool’ as a dedication to the moment when I first heard House music, as this changed my life and made me who I am today. For the last ‘Armin Only: Embrace’ shows, I was looking for something to play that paid homage to my roots as a DJ and artist. I first played the originals of the tracks that I wanted to play, but the quality of the sound is so different. Today’s tracks sound much better produced because the equipment is a lot better, so I had to update the tracks that I wanted to play, including ‘Dominator’. I wanted the tracks to sound like that ‘early rave’ feeling. I jumped into the minds of the people of Human Resource, the original creators of ‘Dominator’, and tried to come up with a version that they could have made in 2016. The initial reaction from the people around me was that I had to release this, so we did. In the end, we decided to release an entire ‘Old Skool’ album. I really hope that the people who listen to the album know and understand what I mean when I talk about the ‘fun’ of dance music, because that’s what drives every track on that album.

Armin van Buuren announces the first locations and dates of his A State Of Trance 600 world tour!

On October 18th, during Amsterdam Dance Event, Armin van Buuren will do a live broadcast of his weekly A State Of Trance radio show. From 20.00-22.00 (CET), the Dutch DJ will host his popular radio show completely live. The show will be streamed live via YouTube. During the 2 hour show, he will announce the first locations of the events for his A State of Trance 600 celebration 2013.

A State of Trance, running for over 11 years and listened to by more than 20 million listeners, has seen many milestones. The 11th birthday and 550th episode of Armin van Buuren's radio show in March 2012 was celebrated with 10 events on different continents within 4 weeks, each event being broadcast live and serving some of the world's best DJ's. Millions of people from all around the globe tuned into the live broadcasts and gathered on social media. While we were reaching the end of A State of Trance - Invasion Tour, fans all over the globe were busy campaigning for the A State of Trance 600 to come to their city. Expectations for the next celebration are high.

'Great Spirit’ was made in collaboration with Israel’s Vini Vici and Hilight Tribe in 2016, and I never thought it would go on to sell certified gold in Sweden. I ended up playing this track on almost every big festival throughout the summer season, mainly as a mash-up between the original record and the remix version from Wildstylez. It was one of the first tracks I did that drew inspiration from the Psy-Trance scene. Lots of great memories!

Angel Taylor, who sang on the record, competed in The Voice U.S. in 2012, and I really like working with her. I reached out to Cosmic Gate for a collab after they did an amazing job on remix duty for my tracks ‘This World Is Watching Me’ and ‘Rain’. The result was ‘Embargo’ – one of the three instrumental tracks on my ‘Embrace’ album – and I’m still really proud of that track. I played it a lot in the summers of 2015 and 2016, often as a mash-up with ‘Strong Ones’ (feat. Cimo Fränkel).
