If you’re wondering what’s up – why this one employee seems so difficult, but you can’t quite put your finger on what’s going on – you could have a gaslighting employee on your hands.
There are two basic reasons why an employee gaslights their manager. This video talks about what to do when you think an employee is *intentionally* gaslighting you. Below you’ll find a link to a second video on what to do if you think an employee is gaslighting you unintentionally, as a defense mechanism.
Gaslighting – the term comes from a great old movie called Gaslight – is psychological manipulation designed to make you doubt yourself, and it can be really subtle and hard to deal with.
